TVAC Noise & Operating Hours

Teton Village Architectural Committee Noise & Operating Hours

Except for emergency conditions, snow removal/control, or for construction related to a valid Building Permit between the hours of 8 AM and 6 PM, no person shall operate any type of vehicle or carry on any other activity which shall create excessive noise within the TVAC District Boundaries.

Per TVAC Restrictive Covenants, “Excessive Noise” is defined as:

  • Construction equipment/vehicles with a manufacturer’s gross weight rating of 10,000 pounds or more, “excessive noise” shall mean any sound which exceeds 88 decibels.
  • All other sound between 8 AM and 8 PM (day), “excessive noise” shall mean any sound which exceeds 80 decibels.
  • All other sound between 8 PM and 8 AM (night), “excessive noise” shall mean any sound which exceeds 60 decibels.

Sound will be measured on a sound meter which conforms to ANSI and international standards operated on an “A” weighting scale and from a distance of 25 feet from its source, or if the sound is located on private property, at a distance of 15 feet from the property line of the property on which the sound is located.
